For therapists who have a strong understanding of the underlying muscular, neurological, and psychological considerations around temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, precision neuromuscular therapy can serve as a useful intervention strategy. This course, with Doug Nelson, provides instruction on both intra-oral and extra-oral precision neuromuscular techniques to address TMJ pain throughout the progression of dysfunction. Therapists are shown how to evaluate the interincisal opening and the movements of the mandible, and how to apply treatment techniques to the temporalis, masseter, and lateral pteragoid. The course concludes with demonstrations of myofascial techniques for addressing TMJ pain.
